Job Posting: MED-DBT Clinician

Registered Mental Health Practitioner – MED-DBT Clinician

Location: Penetanguishene, Ontario – Hybrid with Option for In-Person Work
Clinic: The Centre for Psychology and Emotion Regulation

Join Us in Changing the Landscape of Eating Disorder Treatment

Are you a skilled clinician looking to make changes in how we think about and treat eating disorders? The Centre for Psychology and Emotion Regulation is one of the only clinics in the world delivering MED-DBT (Multi-diagnostic Eating Disorder–Dialectical Behavior Therapy), a groundbreaking treatment designed for clients who have not been helped by traditional approaches.

Our clients are some of the most nuanced, courageous, and misunderstood people in the field: adults living with eating disorders and co-occurring challenges like suicidality, self-injury, trauma, substance use, and medical instability. Where other systems have seen “treatment resistance,” we see possibility. Where others have closed doors, we open them.

Joining us means becoming part of a team that is rewriting the story of recovery, helping clients build lives they actually experience as worth living.

Why This Role Is Different

At our clinic, you will:

  • Deliver full-model DBT with a specialized MED-DBT lens – intensive, principle-driven treatment designed to restore hope and create change.
  • Work with multidiagnostic clients who have been excluded or let down by standard programs, using a model that validates their lived experience and offers solutions.
  • Be supported as a clinician: our weekly MED-DBT consultation team is not “just another meeting.” It’s where you’ll find community, reduce burnout, and stay sharp and effective.
  • Receive advanced training and mentorship in MED-DBT, trauma modalities, and eating disorder care – learning skills and approaches available in very few places worldwide.
  • Be part of something bigger: our clinic is actively shaping the future of DBT + ED treatment, training clinicians, publishing research, and building a higher standard of care.

Who We’re Looking For

You are a Registered Psychotherapist, Social Worker, or Psychologist with:

  • MED-DBT training and experience
  • Advanced DBT training and experience across all modes (individual, groups, phone coaching, consult team).
  • A passion for treating eating disorders in the context of trauma and emotion dysregulation.
  • Comfort working with high-risk, multidiagnostic clients and a commitment to anti-oppressive, weight-inclusive practice.
  • Curiosity, compassion, and the ability to hold hope when clients feel they have none.

(If you are new to MED-DBT but bring strong DBT + ED experience and a commitment to training, we’d love to hear from you.)

The Work You’ll Do

  • Comprehensive assessments using MED-DBT’s adapted biosocial theory.
  • Individual therapy, DBT skills groups, and in-the-moment phone coaching.
  • Use of specialized MED-DBT tools (target hierarchy, diary cards, chain/missing link analyses, contingency management).
  • Collaboration with dietitians, physicians, and a multidisciplinary team.
  • Active participation in our MED-DBT consultation team and professional development culture.

Why Clinicians Stay With Us

  • Impact: Work with clients who have been underserved or misunderstood elsewhere and see them begin to thrive.
  • Innovation: Train in a cutting-edge model that is shaping the international conversation on eating disorders.
  • Community: Be part of a supportive, passionate, and committed team.
  • Flexibility & Growth: Hybrid work options, competitive compensation, and opportunities to grow with a clinic that is leading the way forward.
